Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse
Setting: Oncology
Location: Zephryhills Florida 33542
Schedule/Shift: 5x8 or 4x10; Monday-Friday 8am-5pm or Monday-Thursday (can be flexible on hours)
Compensation: Negotiable; 5k signon bonus
Job Description
Perform administrative functions
Provide consultation and information on continuity of care, complex treatment modalities, and additional health and social services available to the patient
Educate patients and families about cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options
Performs complex nursing procedures and prescribed medical treatments
Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique and practice
Perform intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections to include administration of diagnostic agents and medications
Administer chemotherapy doses for accuracy, verification of '5 rights'
Enter charges for services performed in the Infusion Center
Perform incidental duties as needed
High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
5-15 patients per week
Patient population 18+
30-40 minutes infusions
Infusions typically not more than 4-5 hours most will be 30-40mins
Doctor will be present for all infusions
MIXING IF COMFORTABLE - once fully trained
Prepare and mix infusion medications following OSHA and manufacturer package guidelines
Will be trained if they are comfortable learning and performing
Skills/Qualifications
Active Florida RN License
BLS Certification
Chemotherapy Certification (ONCC) or must be willing to obtain certification prior to starting
ONCC Chemotherapy Certification Requirements
Active Nurse License
A minimum of 2,000 hours of adult oncology nursing practice within the four years (48 months) prior to application.
A minimum of two years (24 months) of experience as an RN within the four years (48 months) prior to application.
Completed a minimum of 10 contact hours of nursing continuing education in oncology or an academic elective in oncology nursing within the three years (36 months) prior to application.
