Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Advanced Practice Primary Care team. In this role, you will work in a fully equipped clinic, providing a wide range of services including the diagnosis and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, urgent care for non-work-related conditions, surveillance and regulatory exams, and preventive services. You will also oversee and coordinate allied healthcare staff and work closely with an oversight physician. This position requires collaboration with medical and operational leadership, clinic nursing staff and medical assistants, site paramedics, and key contacts within the client's corporate structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Providing occupational health services, including pre-placement exams, medical surveillance, and drug testing.
  • Overseeing the Return to Work Program in partnership with the client and Third Party Administrator (TPA).
  • Conducting CPR, First Aid, and AED initial and refresher trainings.
  • Participation in emergency drills and exercises and collaboration in disaster planning.
  • Urgent care for minor non-work-related illnesses and injuries.
  • Providing limited primary care for stable chronic conditions.
  • Offering preventive services such as screenings, immunizations, and well-woman exams.
  • Maintaining compliance with CDC guidelines for vaccine storage, handling, and administration.
  • Completing and documenting clinical care in the electronic medical record in accordance with documentation standards.
  • Collaborating with the supervising/collaborative physician and other care providers as needed.
  • Assisting with the development of additional services and wellness programs.
  • Supporting client wellness initiatives.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with both the client.
  • Providing accurate and timely documentation and reporting of clinic activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid state medical licensure.
  • DEA certification.
  • Board certification in emergency medicine, primary care, or occupational health (strongly preferred).
  • Certification in BLS (AHA).
  • Graduation from an accredited PA/NP program.
  • Occupational health experience preferred.
  • Experience in independent work and primary and occupational health (highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with family practice care, urgent care, emergency care, and/or occupational health clinic environments.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Strong internet, email, and software proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to various technology-based devices.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to respond to diverse situations with limited standardization.
  • Proficiency in medical mathematics and a working knowledge of medication dosages and percentages.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with various stakeholders.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, walking, lifting, and responding to emergencies.
  • The work environment may include clinic settings with varying climates, noise levels, and access restrictions.
  • Safety-sensitive tasks may be involved, such as conducting testing and evaluation of results, patient assessment, and providing immunizations and preventive services.
