Job description

Are you on the job market for a full time role? Medix is hiring a contract Nurse Practitioner to work for a well known healthcare organization in Washington DC in the Radiation Oncology Department. This contract will last roughly 12 weeks. Please see below for more information on the position!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed, and assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
  • Contribute to department goals, maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and provide direct care to patients with both acute and chronic conditions. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Accurately record patient data, maintain reports, and ensure proper charge records. Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as administering non-sterile dressings, basic nursing procedures, and preparing patients for scheduled treatments. Assist with patient assessments and consult with specialists as necessary.
  • Provide preventive care, arrange consultations, and follow up on long-term patient needs. Perform health assessments and develop care plans for patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments, and monitor their effectiveness based on patient needs. Communicate findings with patients and physicians to ensure continuity of care.
  • In specific settings, provide targeted care, assist with clinical supervision, manage urgent cases, and coordinate patient care and referrals. This includes pre-anesthesia evaluations, cancer screenings, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Support patients through transitions of care, from hospital to home, and collaborate with family and social services for ongoing support, especially for frail or elderly patients.

Requirements:

  • DC Nurse Practitioner License
  • At least one year of experience; preferred background in Radiation Oncology, Internal Medicine, Neuro, or Ortho
  • BLS Certification

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Pay: 55.28/hr - 67.30/hr
  • Tentative start date: End of December/Beginning of January
  • Located in Georgetown area
