Location: Petersburg, VA
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Salary: $60 - $80 per hour, commensurate with experience
Overview: Dedicated to transforming how people experience abortion care in the United States. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team and deliver comprehensive gynecological and abortion care in accordance with our mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Services - Gynecological Care:
- Provide health screenings, including pap smears, pelvic exams, breast checks, and STI screenings.
- Counsel patients on birth control options and provide methods including diaphragms and IUDs.
- Dispense Mifepristone or Misoprostol under MD orders per medical abortion protocol.
- Educate and counsel patients on women's health issues and provide treatment for gynecological problems.
- Identify and manage non-gynecological medical problems, providing referrals as necessary.
- Review and triage patient labs in accordance with physician orders and protocols.
- Return calls from established patients with problems or questions.
- Accurately chart all findings and patient interactions.
- Perform basic clinical skills, including manual blood pressure, temperature, pulse, finger stick, venipuncture, height, weight, injection, IVs, and microscopy.
Clinical Services - Abortion Care:
- Support abortion care practices, demonstrating empathy and pro-choice values.
- Optional: participate in ultrasound, surgical setup, aftercare, and provision of Mifepristone under physician supervision.
- Perform follow-up visits for patients experiencing post-abortion issues.
Health Promotion:
- Act as a resource for local women and community providers.
- Provide training and education to staff and nurses.
- Work with the Quality Assurance team to improve protocols and patient care.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in administrative tasks.
Experience and General Requirements:
- Possess a VA state license as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Prescriptive authority preferred.
- Certification in colposcopy and training in IUD insertion and Nexplanon is preferred.
- Experience as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), with recertification biannually.
