Job description

Job Overview:

This contract-to-hire role involves accurately documenting ocular exams and treatment recommendations, supporting patient flow, and maintaining communication on appointment status in a high-volume clinic. The candidate will work within the EMR system (NextGen), assisting healthcare providers during patient interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review patient charts to understand conditions and diagnostic needs.
  • Communicate with healthcare practitioners regarding patient care.
  • Document special treatment needs and ensure availability of medications and diagnostic tools.
  • Accurately chart physician instructions, including chief complaints, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Perform precise ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Coordinate patient dilation procedures and assist during exams as needed.
  • Maintain patient flow by confirming insurance authorization and coordinating rescheduling.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing instructions and educational materials.
  • Prepare exam rooms and monitor schedule changes.

Requirements/ Must-Haves:

  • High school diploma
  • 1+ year of scribe experience in a medical setting
  • proficiency in EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • Ability to learn quickly
