Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM MST

This position is fully on site in Centennial, CO.

Compensation:
$18 - $20 per hour

Role Overview

We are seeking a Medical Records Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team. This individual will play a vital role in managing payer pre- and post-pay medical records requests, legal inquiries, and social security documentation. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Retrieve clinical documentation from electronic medical records (EMR) and compile relevant information.
  • Respond to payer requests via mail, fax, and other electronic methods within designated timelines (e.g., 5 business days or as urgent as 3 days).
  • Pull medical invoices, patient payments, and other billing details for social security and payer requests.
  • Handle incoming calls regarding medical records requests.
  • Prepare professional correspondence, including letters for missing documentation or requests.
  • Create and manage Excel spreadsheets for sorting and filtering data as needed.
  • Participate in quality audits to ensure accuracy of compiled records before submission.
  • Maintain flexibility to pivot to urgent requests and cross-train in other responsibilities when needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering; pivot tables not required).
  • Strong written communication skills to compose letters and respond to inquiries.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with minimal supervision required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt in a high-volume environment.
  • Previous experience as a clerical liaison or in a similar administrative role is a plus.
  • Calm under pressure and flexible in shifting priorities based on demand.

Training & Onboarding

  • Comprehensive training provided (up to 90 days, typically self-sufficient within 60 days).
  • Regular audits of work to maintain high standards of accuracy.

This position is a backfill for anticipated increased medical records requests in 2025. The team is collaborative, adaptable, and supports ongoing professional growth and cross-training opportunities.
