Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Medical Records and Referrals Manager to oversee and enhance the medical records and referrals department at a well-established community health center in Los Angeles.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical records management, and referral processes, while also possessing the ability to improve workflows and build a cohesive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is both detail-oriented and strategic, capable of managing day-to-day operations while driving big-picture improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Records and Referrals Management:
    • Oversee and manage medical records and referral processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure referrals are properly documented and directed to the appropriate departments or specialists.
  • HIPAA Compliance:
    • Monitor and address all HIPAA compliance issues, ensuring the clinic meets all legal and regulatory standards.
    • Review and revise HIPAA policies as needed to align with updated regulations.
  • Court-Appointed Documentation:
    • Respond promptly to court-appointed requests for medical records or information, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and guide a team responsible for referrals and medical records.
    • Develop and implement workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy in handling referrals and records.
  • Strategic Vision:
    • Build and grow the medical records and referrals department by identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
    • Create and implement strategies to optimize workflow and enhance departmental performance.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in medical records, referrals, or healthcare management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance.
  • Must be Spanish bilingual.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring staff.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term strategic planning.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Familiarity with referral processes and workflows in a clinical setting.
  • Visionary mindset with the ability to drive department-wide improvements.

Schedule:

  • Monday- Friday 8:00-5:00 pm

Pay range:

$76,000-86,000 annual salary (BOE)
