Job description

Position Overview

The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals. This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the front office in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Reception & Customer Service

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Efficiently check-in and check-out patients, verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Address patient inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.

Appointment Scheduling & Coordination

  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using the clinic's scheduling system.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure proper appointment flow.
  • Manage waitlists and notify patients of available openings.

Insurance & Billing Support

  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-pays, deductibles, or outstanding balances.
  • Assist patients with billing inquiries and direct them to the appropriate department if necessary.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including phone calls, emails, and faxes.
  • Assist with office inventory and supply orders.

Collaboration with Medical Staff

  • Communicate effectively with doctors, nurses, and medical assistants to facilitate smooth patient care.
  • Relay messages between patients and providers as needed.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation are completed before patient appointments.

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications

  • Bilingual: Spanish
  • 1+ year of experience in a medical office or customer service role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:45 PM
  • No weekends required.
