Overview
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
- Analyze body fluids, such as blood and urine, for abnormalities.
- Prepare specimens for examination using various laboratory techniques.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Follow strict safety protocols to handle biological samples and hazardous materials.
- Maintain detailed records of test results and ensure accurate data entry into laboratory systems.
- Assist in research studies and quality control procedures to improve testing accuracy.
Testing & Analysis:
- Perform hematology, microbiology, immunology, and chemistry tests.
- Use automated and manual techniques to analyze samples.
- Identify and flag abnormal test results for further review by a pathologist or physician.
- Conduct blood typing and compatibility tests for transfusions.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Follow laboratory protocols and adhere to regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Ensure laboratory tests meet quality assurance guidelines.
- Participate in proficiency testing and continuous training.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate test results.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively to support patient care.
- Assist in training new lab personnel and students when needed.
Skills/Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a hospital based clinical laboratory (will consider new grads with clinicals in a hospital and already certified)
- Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
- Must submit to a color-acuity screening test prior.
Schedule/ Shift: 6:00a - 2:30p
