Job description

We are currently seeking Medical Billers to join our team in Harrisburg, PA

PLEASE NOTE - This role is remote, but individuals must be local to the Harrisburg area, as training will be onsite prior to remote

  • Location: Harrisburg, PA
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Hours: Monday to Friday 8-5 PM
  • Pay: $18/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough follow-up and re-billing of unresolved hospital and physician insurance claims.
  • Research claims and conduct electronic follow-up with various insurance companies via electronic systems or phone.
  • Review client system notes to track prior work and determine next steps.
  • Utilize electronic tools or contact insurance companies to determine claim status and take appropriate actions.
  • Re-bill claims electronically if none are on file or resolve rejections by identifying necessary corrections.
  • Determine if claims should be billed to patients or written off based on timely filing and other issues.
  • Submit accounts for write-offs or patient responsibility as needed.
  • Manage claim denials by correcting or re-billing claims or resolving authorization issues.
  • Maintain productivity of 40 accounts/day with a 90% quality rating.
  • Navigate and learn multiple computer systems efficiently.
  • Provide limited training and support to billing associates.
  • Adhere to Federal and State guidelines for handling medical receivables.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital or physician business office with direct billing and claim follow-up experience.
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or Commercial Insurers; multiple payer types preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows (Windows 7 and 10) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook 2016).
  • Familiarity with NaviNet for claim lookup and investigations.
  • Ability to learn and operate multiple client computer systems.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Comfortable with extended phone conversations and assertive in resolving issues with insurance companies.
  • Demonstrated strong billing and follow-up skills with multiple insurance companies.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and follow instructions effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, UB04 forms, 1500 forms, and medical billing systems.
