Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Walnut Creek
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM PST (30-minute lunch)
COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement: First dose required (boosters not needed)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing, particularly with CMS 1500 claim forms, and a general knowledge of both government and commercial payers. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with software tools like QuickBooks and Google Docs.

Key Responsibilities

• CMS 1500 Claim Form Processing: Review and process claims with accuracy and efficiency.
• Payment Management: Run payments as patients call in, ensuring reports are balanced for entry into QuickBooks (QBO).
• Billing Updates: Update patient billing information during phone calls and ensure changes are accurately applied.
• Insurance Communication: Speak with insurance companies to resolve billing-related questions and discrepancies.
• Support Staff: Assist staff and doctors with billing inquiries as they arise.
• Collections Calls: Contact patients to provide reminders and updates before sending unpaid claims to collections.
• Document Management: Work extensively with Google Docs to organize and manage billing information.

Qualifications

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of billing experience.
• Proficiency with CMS 1500 Claim Forms.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with Valant EHR (specific to Behavioral Health).
• Experience using Slack and Google Docs for team communication and documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum 4 years of medical billing experience.
• Knowledge of government and commercial payers.

Training & Tools

• Training Duration: 3 weeks.
• Software proficiency in QuickBooks (QBO), Google Docs, and Slack.
