Job description

Hiring Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician/Surgical Technicans to join our Ophthalmology Practice!

Join our rapidly growing ophthalmology practice with six locations in Southwestern Pennsylvania, seeking a dynamic and motivated Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this exciting role, you will float between traditional medical assistant duties and supporting small surgical procedures, including cataract surgeries. Training will be provided to help you transition into ophthalmology and expand your skill set!

Location: Sewickley/Wexford

Schedule: 8:30-4:30 M-F, will work 9-5 one day every two weeks on rotation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient health histories and assist with check-in.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist physicians with small procedures.
  • Perform patient work-ups in a friendly and efficient manner, handling high patient volumes (30-60 patients per day).
  • Assist with the clinical flow, managing patient rooming and ensuring a smooth process throughout the day.
  • Ophthalmic Technician Duties (Training Provided if Needed):

    • Perform ophthalmic diagnostic tests under supervision and assist physicians during exams and surgeries.
    • Support cataract surgeries and other small procedures as needed.
    • Manage patient data using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
    • Maintain and clean medical equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Ophthalmic experience is preferred, including knowledge of ophthalmic testing and procedures
  • Background in a medical clinic with experience supporting small procedures or surgeries is highly encouraged
