Medical Assistant

Position: Bilingual Medical Assistant (English/Spanish Preferred)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate will assist in the delivery of quality patient care by performing a variety of clinical tasks, including taking vital signs, supporting providers during examinations, and offering interpreter services for patients and staff. Schedule:
40 Hours per week
Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
1 Evening Shift per week: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM
1 Saturday per month: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Escort and Coordination: Welcome and escort patients from the waiting room to examination rooms, ensuring efficient patient flow.
Point-of-Care Testing: Perform point-of-care tests as directed, including obtaining oropharyngeal swabs for throat cultures, rapid strep tests, urine dips, pregnancy tests, and finger sticks for A1C and glucose levels.
Vital Signs and Measurements: Take and record vital signs such as height, weight, blood pressure, head circumference, and visual acuity; assist with triaging patients based on clinical needs.
Clinical Support: Take patient history, including chief complaint and pain scale, and assist with screening for smoking cessation and family planning.
Patient Screening and Documentation: Assist patients in completing pre-visit screening forms, enter results into the patient record, and ensure accurate documentation.
Exam Assistance and Interpretation Services: Assist providers during patient examinations and anticipate and provide interpretation services when needed for both providers and nurses.
EKGs and Non-Stress Tests: Administer EKGs and perform non-stress tests as requested.
Patient Communication: Inform waiting patients of any unexpected delays and ensure they are well-informed throughout their visit.
Immunization Administration: Administer immunizations to patients as directed by clinical staff.
Phone Triage: Assist with triaging telephone calls and providing appropriate responses based on policy and procedure.
Lab Referrals: Send patients for appropriate lab work before examination by the provider, as directed by clinical staff.
Form Assistance: Assist patients with completing school and other forms as necessary.
Float Across Practices: Provide medical assistant coverage across various practice areas including PC, OB-GYN, UC, and PEDI as needed.
Team Collaboration: Participate in clinical care session planning and team huddles. Collaborate with nursing staff to support patient care and outreach for care management activities.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Experience: Previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, especially in a clinical setting.
Skills:
Fluency in English and Spanish is essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with patients in a professional, compassionate manner.
Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to assist in various clinical procedures.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Certifications: CPR certification required, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist with patients, stand for long periods, and perform routine clinical tasks.
