Job description

Medix is hiring a medical assistant for a new facility in Plymouth, MA!

The medical assistant will be cross trained to scrub in and assist in unique minimally invasive procedures.

Schedule:

  • M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm OR 7:30am - 4:00pm

Location:

  • Plymouth, Massachusetts

Responsibilities:

  • Pre-op
  • Take patients back to get ready for the procedure
  • Start IVs, fill out 3 screening questionnaires
  • Monitor the patient prior to the procedure. Notify the nurse of physician of any vital changes.
  • Sedation Transfer from Procedure Room to Bay
  • Call the patient's family and confirm pick up time
  • If transport is needed, call transport and take the patient to vehicle at time of discharge
  • Monitor the patient for 2 hours post-op. Document vitals. Notify the nurse of any changes
  • Manage and access the patients groin site to ensure no bleeding or hematoma occurs
  • Hold pressure on arterial site if needed
  • Discharge the patient. Go over the discharge instructions and answer any questions.
  • Scan inventory used for patient outside of the procedure room in the inventory management system.
  • Take dirty linens to the pickup locations. Restock Linens.
  • Help unpack inventory that has been delivered and help put it away
  • Help set-up and turn over the procedure room for the next procedure
  • Turn over patient rooms to get ready for the next patient
  • Monitor hazardous material box
  • Assist the front desk with patient chart prep, scheduling and phone calls if needed.
