Job description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Medical Assistant Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for instructing and facilitating the mastery of medical assistant competencies and curriculum. You will support all facets of the learning environment and deliver career education to help our graduates meet the evolving needs of the employment market. This position fosters a culture of learning that encourages mutual responsibility, respect, ethics, lifelong learning, and personal and professional development.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (No weekends)

Teaching & Instruction:

  • Deliver engaging, learner-centered instruction in accordance with established curricula, syllabi, industry guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and deliver all course materials and lesson plans.
  • Provide corrective feedback in a constructive, non-judgmental manner to guide students toward improved performance.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grades in the student information system, entering them within three days of assignments or exams.
  • Administer and complete competency testing by established deadlines.
  • Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that supports learning and student engagement.
  • Effectively use clinical simulation software, digital health records, specialized diagnostic equipment, and tools like the Anatomage Table to facilitate hands-on learning.

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom environment.
  • Utilize proactive management strategies to ensure student focus and productivity.
  • Respond to disruptive behavior promptly and effectively.
  • Encourage respectful interactions among students and foster an inclusive, nondiscriminatory environment.

Student Success and Satisfaction:

  • Assist students in achieving their educational and career goals through mentoring and support.
  • Identify at-risk students and refer them for additional support and intervention.
  • Engage in retention activities and provide tutoring when needed.
  • Actively participate in program evaluation and revisions.

Laboratory and Field Work Responsibilities:

  • Stay updated on industry technological advancements and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  • Ensure the safe use of chemicals, equipment, and lab materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Provide offsite student transportation for field trips or events, if necessary.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience within the medical assistant industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office; valid Pennsylvania driver's license with an insurable driver's record.
  • Strong clinical skills, including vital sign measurement, patient preparation, phlebotomy, medical terminology, CPR, and EKG.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, medical coding, and administrative skills like scheduling and appointment setting.
  • Ability to teach Anatomy & Physiology at the medical assistant level, including using the Anatomage Table.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; teaching or training experience is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Additional Information:

  • Class sizes typically average around 15 students.
  • The curriculum is already developed, giving instructors autonomy over assessments but following a state-approved program.
  • The program is starting around April, and instructors will be expected to be ready to teach at that time.
