Job Duties:
- Clinical/Patient Care
Escort patients to examining room and prepares patient for examination. - Interview patient to determine needs and establish rapport.
- Obtain vital signs (BP, HR, WEIGHT, HEIGHT, o2 SAT, TEMP), initial history and chief complaint.
- Document these in the electronic medical record.
- Acute Rapid Testing (Check w/ provider if patient is asking for something specific).
- Communicate relevant information to the physician (be available for frequent contact).
- Secure consent form signatures as indicated.
- Review patient's chart to assure that all progress notes, lab tests, phone call messages and other test results are accurate and complete (at every visit: check allergies, medications/supplements).
- Update medication list, allergy, procedure, and history lists; determine refill needs.
- Prepare patient rooms for examination and minor procedures, and restock examination rooms with appropriate instruments, linens, and supplies (restocks
wall material; magazines, etc.). - Prepare instruments for examination and surgical procedures, including
sterilization of necessary instruments and equipment - Assist physicians with examinations and surgical procedures by positioning patient, preparing instruments to be used, handing instruments to the physician as needed, cleaning and dressing wounds, etc.
- Prepare exam room and assists with PAPs, colposcopy, cryotherapy, IUD insertion, endometrial biopsy, and cosmetic procedures (chaperone as needed).
- Measure, administer and record medications, including injections, immunizations, and TB skin tests under the supervision of the physician and monitors patient for any adverse reactions.
- Measure lung capacity using Spirometer. Prepare and give nebulizer treatments.
- Obtain electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Remove cast, suturing, perform irrigations, and apply and remove dressing.
- Clean, adjust, calibrate, and perform basic maintenance on equipment such as otoscope, ophthalmoscope, electrocardiogram, autoclave, and spirometer.
- Under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant, refill prescription medications by calling or faxing the pharmacy with the refill authorization information.
Clerical:
- Receive and screen incoming calls for provider(s).
- Assists with phone calls for
provider(s) to patients, pharmacies, and other providers. - Accurately document ALL patient phone calls and encounters in the permanent medical record (to
include messages from TigerText). Inform supervisor, manager, or provider for any urgent needs not met for a patient via the appropriate communication
manner. - Receive and organize incoming laboratory and radiology reports after review by
the physician and inform the patient directly by phone. - Enter patient information into the electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner, including medications, permanent problems, allergies, and other
information as directed by providers. Always maintain strict patient confidentiality. - Arrange for referral appointments to include consulting physicians and diagnostic tests according to insurance guidelines. Obtain insurance pre-authorization as
needed. Follows up to ensure patients have obtained their referral evaluations/procedures. Track and document results and reports regarding referrals (contact specialist offices when records are needed or provider needs to speak w/ him/her). - Maintain inventory of assigned room/office of all patient care supplies, including medical supplies, medications, and linens.
- Monitor and replace sharps containers as needed and manage medical waste
per (OSHA) standards. - Receive, rotate, and update pharmaceutical samples and talks to representatives.
- Maintain an accurate inventory and expiration log (some providers don't see reps).
- Perform other clerical and clinical duties as directed by the physician or clinical manager to support the functions of the practice.
Must Have Skills/Qualifications:
- MA Diploma
- 2 years of experience
- Experience w Back office dutes AND administrative duties (prior auth, phone/email communication, scheduling, etc)

Schedule/Shift:
Mon-Fri
Hours are 7-5, will either "open" and leave a bit early or come in a bit later and "close"
Friday hours are 8-3
