Job description

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant or an Ophthalmic Technician to join one of our teams in either Monroeville, Bethel Park, or Cranberry! (openings at all 3 locations!)

Location: Multiple locations available: Monroeville, Bethel Park, Cranberry
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift
Salary: $19 - $23 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)

We are currently seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician to join our specialized ophthalmology practice. If you are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and have experience in a clinical setting, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate patient evaluations by documenting chief complaints, history of present illness, review of systems, past surgeries, medications, and pertinent ocular findings in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Perform pre-exam testing, including visual acuity assessments, tonometry, pupillary dilation, and other patient services as requested by the physician.
  • Set up for procedures, including intravitreal injections, which involves pulling the drug and documenting necessary information in the EHR (lot number, expiration date, etc.).
  • Clean surgical instruments in preparation for sterile processing.
  • Conduct inventory of instrument supplies as directed.
  • Assist with the maintenance of clinical exam equipment.
  • Order clinical supplies as needed.
  • Open and close exam and injection rooms.
  • Assist with photography if trained to do so.

Job Requirements:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a neat, professional appearance are mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient typing skills with previous experience using electronic health records (e.g., EPIC, NextGen).
  • Previous medical office clinical experience is preferred; prior experience in ophthalmology is a plus.
