Job description

Job Title: Medical Assistant

Location: Ridgefield, CT

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Pay: $20-24/hr

Position is contract to hire through Medix #MedixHC

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, including clinical summaries and follow-up instructions, preparing patients for consultations, documenting interactions in the electronic health record (EHR), and monitoring and responding to clinical tasks and referrals. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice and delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Patient Care Clinical Summary and Follow-Up:

    • Deliver clear and concise clinical summaries to patients.
    • Provide patients with detailed instructions on next steps and follow-up care as directed by the healthcare provider.
  2. Patient Preparation and Clinical Information Collection:

    • Act as an integral member of the care team.
    • Prepare patients for their visit by collecting and recording vital signs and other clinical information according to established protocols.
    • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed prior to patient consultation.
  3. Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Accurately and promptly document all patient interactions and clinical activities in the electronic health record (EHR).
    • Maintain up-to-date and thorough patient records.
  4. Task Management and Follow-Up:

    • Monitor task buckets and respond to tasks in a timely manner.
    • Follow up on overdue orders and worklists.
    • Monitor the status of critical referrals and ensure timely completion and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program (certification or diploma) required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and move around the clinical area.
  • Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
  • Manual dexterity for performing clinical tasks.
