Medix is a Joint Commission Certified staffing company who helps some of the top Hospitals and Clinics in the Chicagoland area hire for their Medical Assistant openings. This specific Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is an urgent request and we are looking to get people interviewing ASAP!
Job Description:
- Welcomes and greets patients, guests and external parties using established service protocols; perform reception functions, including answering and accurately directing incoming calls from patients, community organizations, medical organizations, and other external parties.
- Registers patients for the visit; schedules post-visit follow-ups at the health center.
- Explains the sliding fee schedule, screens patients for eligibility and assures that eligibility information is up to date..
- Reviews patient schedules in advance of the patient visit and anticipates and coordinates materials to facilitate the review of records, scheduled screenings and use of forms needed by the provider during the visit.
- Ensures adequate supplies in preparation for each patient's visit. Additionally, notifies appropriate team members when there is a shortage of supplies.
- Maintains patient flow by escorting patients from the waiting area to the examination room(s). Assists the ongoing management of patient flow by ensuring that rooms are efficiently utilized, minimizing patient wait time. Facilitates telehealth medical and behavioral health encounters, both those initiated at the health center and at a remote location.
- Prepares patients for their visit, examination procedure and/or treatment in accordance with established work flows. Obtains and documents vital signs, required screenings and patient complaints. Prepares appropriate paperwork for procedures, laboratory work, tests, or referrals for medical staff (provider/nurse)
- Assists providers with procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Administers medication and/or immunizations administered intramuscularly, intradermally or subcutaneously under appropriate direction. Appropriately documents medication administered.
- Assists in the collection, labeling, and processing of specimens. Performs phlebotomy and point of care testing (POCT) laboratory tests as requested and as outlined in the Illinois Clinical Laboratory Act and related regulations.
- Performs wound dressing changes and wound cultures.
- Under appropriate direction, reaches out to patients and responds to patient contacts regarding scheduling, prescription refills, normal laboratory results, referrals.
- Provides assistance with contacting pharmacies to request prescription refills, as ordered by a provider.
- Coordinates care across multiple community and medical providers, and assures documentation in the patient record regarding the continuum of care supporting the patient's health and plan of care; assists patients as needed to make follow up connections with medical systems and community organizations for services discussed during the visit.
- Maintains a high-quality patient care environment by cleaning, preparing, and stocking all examination rooms and treatment areas in accordance with established standards. Assists in the care, cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments. This includes the monitoring of relevant expiration dates, established maintenance schedules, and assistance in maintaining medical supply inventories.
- Understands, respects, and complies with patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Adheres to OSHA and infection control policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates ability to identify and respond to medical emergencies by following health center protocols.
- Attends team meetings, as required.
- Performs duties and functions as needed to support the efficient operation of the health center.
- Provides patient education and instruction as well as health screenings as directed by the provider.
- Adheres to professional standards as outlined by HRSA and other governmental bodies, applicable professional associations, private funding sources, agency plans, policies and unit guidelines. Initiates requests for assistance or guidance to address new policies/procedures or complex concepts affecting the scope of practice.
- Accountable for using critical thinking and problem solving on any issues/problems that interfere with carrying out job responsibilities and if this problem/issue cannot be resolved or handled, then the problem and lack of resolution must be communicated to the employee's manager.
- Accountable for being knowledgeable about and actively participating in quality initiatives.
- Successfully completes required competency testing annually, and as necessary.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Estimated pay rate:
$21 / hour - $26 / Hour - Completely based upon experience
Qualifications:
Medical Assistant Experience
Phlebotomy Experience
Bilingual - English and Spanish
MA Diploma OR Certification Preferred
