Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant, EMT, or LPN to join our urgent care team. This role involves providing direct patient care, assisting with procedures, and supporting clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities



Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Room patients according to clinic guidelines.
  • Obtain and accurately record vital signs and physical measurements.
  • Administer medications and perform clinical procedures per authorized policy.
  • Review patient charts for pertinent information related to their visit.
  • Provide and document necessary health education materials.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per policies.
  • Seek medical or nursing assistance for acutely ill or changing-condition patients.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures.
  • Assist providers with medical interventions and procedures.


Charting & Documentation

  • Ensure all Medical Service Requests (MSRs) are completed and routed appropriately.
  • Prepare lab, x-ray, and other necessary forms as requested.
  • Process prescription refills per clinic protocols.
  • Maintain logs (e.g., pap, pathology) as assigned.
  • Prepare patient charts for appointments based on visit type and reason.


Communication & Coordination

  • Relay messages and test results accurately and in line with clinic standards.
  • Gather and convey necessary caller information to providers for follow-up.
  • Keep the reception desk informed of provider schedule status.
  • Assist with provider schedule changes to accommodate patient needs.
  • Facilitate patient correspondence and assist with form completion when needed.


Infection Control & Equipment Maintenance

  • Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment according to OSHA and infection control standards.
  • Maintain and document scheduled cleaning requirements.
  • Implement infection control procedures and adhere to protective clothing requirements.


Inventory & Supply Management

  • Ensure clinic supplies are stocked, organized, and replenished as needed.
  • Process department inventory requests promptly.
  • Verify received supplies against packing slips, reporting discrepancies.
  • Prepare return shipments with proper documentation.
  • Monitor expiration dates and replace outdated supplies.
  • Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet per clinic protocol.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and documented.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • For LPN: Graduate of an accredited nursing program + current LPN license (Minnesota)
  • For MA: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or EMT program + current EMT license
  • For RMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program + current registration through AAMA or AMT
  • For CMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program + current Medical Assistant certification through AAMA or AMT
  • CPR Certification: Current BLS/CPR for healthcare professionals (American Heart Association or Red Cross)

Schedule: 32.5 hours/week. The position will work every other weekend from 7:30am - 5:15pm and the remainder of the hours will be between the hours of 8am - 8pm (Monday - Friday).
