Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the room and patient for office visits and procedures.
  • Assist the physician with treatments and in-office procedures.
  • Prepare, draw up, and reconstitute injectables for various in-office procedures across different physician specialties.
  • Perform blood draws as needed for in-office procedures.
  • Oversee patient flow to ensure efficiency and timely rooming of patients.
  • Perform telephone triage as directed, providing medical advice within scope or referring to clinical team members.
  • Participate in patient education, either in-office or over the phone.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Update and enter patient medical information into the practice management system, including chart updates and vitals as requested by the physician.
  • Access and review X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and other relevant studies for the patient's exam.
  • Assist clinical support staff and physicians with all necessary duties, including patient care, post-operative follow-up calls, medication updates, and more.
  • Maintain and order room stocking inventory to ensure supplies are available.
  • Adhere to and maintain medical protocols set in the office.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulations, replacing containers when required.
  • Review physician schedules to ensure chart preparation, including operative reports, dictations, and studies are included.
  • Assist in fitting, dressing, measuring, and obtaining durable medical equipment (DME) as directed by the physician.
  • Perform staple, suture, and DME removals as directed by the physician.
  • Provide coverage at other locations as needed.

Shift: M-F 8-5

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
  • Phlebotomy Certification Required
  • Previous clinical experience required
  • Current CT & NY State registration and licensure
  • BLS certification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office preferred
