Job description

  • Hiring for 1 LPN to join the medical staff team at the correctional center
  • Position is very straight forward - Will be responsible for passing meds to the inmates
  • Start day by helping with any orders, getting medications added in & prepared for distribution
  • Will do one med pass at 6PM - This pass has around 15 patients & a second pass at 10PM - This pass has around 85 patients
  • Using a med cart to bring medications to patients dorm, will be accompanied by an officer at all times
  • All meds the LPN will be passing are oral medications (no injections required)
  • Assist RN with drawing up insulin & getting it prepared for the following day for the nurse to give out
  • Paper charting --> No charting is done on an EHR/EMR, the Medical Director prefers paper charting, LPN must be OK with this (Can be daunting at first, but once in the routine, it becomes pretty standard)
  • Help with prepping charts/completing paperwork for inmates 14 day health assessment
  • Will bring nail clippers around at least once/week, can bring these on the med cart during med passes
  • Open to training new grads, this position is very straight forward and you know what to expect every day --> Just need to find someone that is comfortable with the setting
  • **This is a very safe environment safe, both the RN/LPN spoke to the level of security & safety present at all times - They work in a different part of the facility (when not passing meds), and are accompanied by an officer (if not 2) at all times
