Job description

Medix is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Licensed Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing prescriptions, handling patient communications, and ensuring the accurate dispensing and packaging of fertility medications. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients regarding prescriptions, refills, benefits access, and payment processing.
  • Obtain and process prior authorizations, track progress, and expedite responses from insurance providers.
  • Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients, keeping them informed about their prescriptions and insurance status.
  • Process self-pay transactions and collect payments over the phone.
  • Provide in-person customer service to local patients picking up medications.
  • Accurately locate, dispense, package, and label prescribed medications according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare and package orders for shipment via FedEx, ensuring accuracy and proper handling of medications.
  • Maintain a high level of organization to ensure timely and efficient delivery of prescriptions.

Schedule & Availability:

  • Must be available to work any 8-hour shift within Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM (shifts may vary: 9-5, 9:30-6, 10-6:30).
  • Required to work one weekend per month (Saturday & Sunday, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) with a corresponding weekday off.

Qualifications:

  • Active CA state Pharmacy Technician License in good standing.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably with specialty medications (fertility experience a plus).
  • Must successfully complete a Skills Check assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, prior authorizations, and co-pay programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient care.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
