ABOUT OUR CLIENT / ABOUT THE ROLE

Medix is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for a full-time opportunity with one of our best clients - a SaaS Software Organization specialized in the Clinical Research / Clinical Trials industry. Their flagship application is a suite of products that help manage end-to-end Clinical Research / Clinical trials - from award, through startup, execution, management and analytics.

This Software Engineer will be joining the organization as a visionary and technical leader, to help modernize and scale the flagship SaaS product - a suite of applications built in PHP and JavaScript, with PostgreSQL.

This role will contribute to the design and architecture of a new API-first approach, as well as helping to promote and foster SDLC and engineering best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serving as a Lead / Principal Software Developer on a growing team
Contributing to the design and architecture of a API-first based application development
Leading the hands-on application development in PHP7, Python, JavaScript and MariaDB (PostgreSQL)
Embracing and promoting a kaizen approach of continuous improvement and best-practices for software development
Guiding change management and coaching /mentoring others on software development, Agile, and coding best-practices
Contributing to the best solutions for scaling the application
Serving as a visionary and guide in taking the necessary steps to modernize the application stack, environment and DevOps infrastructure

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering
7-10+ years professional experience as a Software Developer
Experience in the design architecture and development of web applications in PHP/Python
5+ years with PHP (PHP 7) and PHP APIs
Experienced in developing a variety of PHP Applications - from MVC to API and container based
Expertise in JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks
Experience with Python would be a plus
Engineering and software development best-practices
