Laboratory Associate, Analytical R&D

Job description

Summary:

The Laboratory Associate plays a key support role in maintaining smooth day-to-day operations within the laboratory. This versatile position assists in various activities critical to successful research and development efforts. Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, managing inventory of supplies, and, under supervision, preparing solutions. The Laboratory Associate will work closely with the Analytical Research and Development team and report directly to them.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety compliance of the Analytical R&D Laboratory.
  • Calibrate pH meters, refrigerators, analytical balances, and water systems daily. Perform testing as directed by management after receiving appropriate training.
  • Log Analytical R&D samples, maintain the sample login logbook and database, and scan completed analysis forms.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse department to dispose of controlled and non-controlled Analytical R&D samples every six months.
  • Monitor and order laboratory supplies (e.g., reagents, chemicals, stationery, consumables) as needed to prevent shortages. Ensure proper organization of supplies upon receipt.
  • Maintain an inventory of laboratory reagents, chemicals, standards, and impurities. Regularly check expiration dates and dispose of expired chemicals.
  • Follow up with material management and supply chain departments on outstanding orders. Receive orders, track critical items, and communicate timelines to the Analytical R&D team.
  • Collaborate with the document control department to store laboratory logbooks at year-end and issue new logbooks for the upcoming year.
  • Maintain and update laboratory documentation, including laboratory notebooks, data files, outside testing reports, instrument qualification documents, and manuals, ensuring proper storage in designated locations.
  • Assign IDs and maintain a database for all analytical columns received in the Analytical R&D laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • A Science degree in Chemistry or equivalent is required.
  • Recent laboratory experience and familiarity with inventory control are preferred.
