Job description

Are you passionate about contributing to the essential functions of a clinical lab? Join our team as a Clinical Lab Assistant I and become a key player in ensuring efficient lab operations and high-quality specimen handling.

Position Overview: The Clinical Lab Assistant I is responsible for a variety of tasks related to data entry, specimen handling, and preparation, including centrifuging, aliquotting, sorting, and archiving specimens. The role also includes loading barcoded specimens on analyzers and preparing peripheral smears through automated methods. Microbiology-specific responsibilities include staining smears, loading barcoded specimens for analysis, and primary inoculations of microbiology specimens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble specimen folders, print labels, sort samples by department, and manage paperwork for add-on and reference testing.
  • Accession specimens for departmental testing and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on pending lists and referral testing turnaround times (TATs).
  • Address client inquiries and complaints, liaising with Client Services for resolution.
  • Manage inbound calls from healthcare professionals and direct them to appropriate personnel.
  • Handle calls professionally and courteously.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and inventory management.
  • Accurately capture and manage computer imaging data.
  • Enter patient demographics and imaging data efficiently.
  • Transport and organize off-site documentation, ensuring timely disposal based on retention policies.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and follow procedural guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Licensure: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong pattern recognition skills are essential.

Schedule:

  • 1x Chemistry: Monday-Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • 3x Microbiology: Tuesday-Saturday, 1:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Pay: $21.25
