Insurance Verification Specialist

Job description

We are looking for an individual with 2 years of insurance verification, benefits, or billing

Location - Onsite position in the Oakbrook office

Salary - $41,000-$49,000 a year based on prior experience

Contract to hire role with a great mental health organization

Shift - Mon to Fri 9am to 5:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm

Job Responsibilities



  • Communicate with payors to verify eligibility and benefits, confirm anticipated patient out of pocket expense, and determine next steps for prior authorization.
  • Prioritize urgent benefits.
  • Create and distribute patient benefit letters
  • Document progress in project management system.
  • Develop single case agreements if necessary
  • Collaborate with admissions team to provide information in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate efforts with billing team.
  • Create a positive patient experience
  • Actively participate as a team member in resolving issues as they are identified

Other requirements of the Prior Authorization role include:


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience in a healthcare related field, specifically insurance eligibility verification or collection of accounts receivable preferred, with a minimum of 2 years
  • Additional job duties as assigned
