Job description

Job Title: Inpatient Coder (Trauma Experience)

Location: 100% Remote (can't live in AL, CA, CO, CT, District of Columbia, IL, MA, MN, NJ, OR, PA, VT, WA)

Pay: Starting at $28.50/hr

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Inpatient Coder with trauma experience and a valid AHIMA certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS). This role involves coding inpatient medical records, with a focus on trauma-related diagnoses and procedures, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation in alignment with coding standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient trauma cases.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards, regulations, and payer guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to clarify documentation.
  • Maintain high coding accuracy and conduct regular audits.
  • Stay current with coding updates and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications:

  • Valid AHIMA certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS).
  • 2-3 years of inpatient coding experience, with trauma coding expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and trauma procedures.
  • Proficient in coding software and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
