Job description

Remote Medical Biller (Hospital Billing)


Duration: 3-6 month contract with potential for permanent hire after contract completion
Company: Medix
Location: Remote
Pay: $19+/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm (some flexibility), 40 hours per week
Start Dates: 3/17 & 3/24


Overview:
We are seeking experienced Hospital Medical Billers to assist with a backlog of claims. This is a remote, full-time,
temporary role with the potential for permanent hire based on performance.


Key Responsibilities:
● Process and submit hospital, hospital-based physician, and clinic claims accurately and efficiently to third-party
insurance carriers, either electronically or via hard copy.
● Work within Epic, Cerner, Centriq, and/or Thrive to manage billing workflows.
● Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding claims, maintaining a goal of zero errors.
● Identify and correct billing errors to maximize reimbursement.
● Collaborate with insurance companies and internal teams to address denials, discrepancies, and reimbursement
issues.
● Secure and submit necessary medical documentation requested by third-party insurance providers.
● Follow up on unpaid claims until payment is received or only the self-pay balance remains.
● Process claim rejections by correcting errors and resubmitting claims or transitioning accounts to private pay.
● Read and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements to resolve claims issues.
● Manage denials effectively, ensuring timely appeals and corrections.
● Review late charge reports and file corrected claims or write off charges per client policy.
● Identify and address overlapping service dates, readmissions, and other billing conflicts based on payer rules.
● Review and resolve credit balances, submitting reports as required by payers.
● Consistently meet production and quality assurance standards.
● Maintain confidentiality of customer and patient information.
● Participate in company-provided training to stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
● Assist with team projects as needed.


Qualifications:
● Minimum 1 year of hospital billing experience required.
● Proficiency in Epic, Cerner, Centriq and/or Thrive or other EHR systems.
● Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, insurance guidelines, and claim follow-ups.
● Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
