Medix is looking for a Hospital Biller for a Hospital Revenue Cycle firm in the Blue Springs, MO (64015) area!
Primary responsibilities of this full-time, hybrid front-line billing position include:
- Use billing software to perform data entry and prepare hospital/physician bills for submission to third-party payers
- Timely submission of primary/secondary hospital, physician, and clinic claims
- Work A/R reports as needed to follow up on un/under- paid claims on Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, Auto Liability, and Work Comp claims according to contractual requirements and provider policy
- Identify/correct claim errors and system edits preventing successful electronic filing
- Ensure timely submission of unprocessed, rejected or returned claims.
- Submit paper claims as may be required, i.e., work comp
- Practice proactive denials management through effective communication between the Payers, MRS, and clients.
- Prepare and submit 1st and 2nd level appeals as necessary
- Practice strict adherence to HIPAA and all required Compliance components
- Other duties as assigned
Must Have skills:
- 3-5 years billing experience at a hospital group (Medicare, Medicaid and/or Commercial claims) - NO PHYSICIAN
- Understand the claims billing process and medical code sets
- Understanding of the A/R follow-up process
- Knowledge of standard industry health plan structures.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Epic experience is most important
- Cerner experience is also super important but one person doesn't have to have both
- Needs to have a good personality because they will be doing a bit of client facing work.
Schedule/ Shift:
- M-F days (8hr shifts) ; Hybrid role - will start more in person in the beginning of the role then transition into more work from home
