Job description

Job Overview: The Health Information Management (HIM) Technician will perform a variety of clerical and technical tasks related to medical records processes and procedures. Responsibilities include retrieving, preparing, scanning, imaging, filing, conducting quality reviews, and indexing paper documents. The HIM Technician will also assist with DNFB/DNFC processes, account reconciliation, and maintaining non-patient-facing registries (e.g., death, trauma registries). This position requires technical proficiency and attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scanning and imaging of medical records.
  • Assisting with DNFB/DNFC (Discharged Not Final Billed/Discharged Not Final Coded) processes.
  • Retrieving medical documents for review.
  • Reconciliation of accounts related to medical records.
  • Maintaining non-patient-facing registries (e.g., death, trauma).
  • Indexing and organizing medical documents accurately.
  • Performing quality review of scanned documents.
  • Utilizing technical equipment to complete assigned tasks.

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proven technical abilities (comfortable using a computer, scanning machines, and navigating between multiple applications).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to complete occupational health screenings.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving goals in the workplace.

Schedule/Shift:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
