HIM Specialist

Job description

In this role, the HIM Specialist will be responsible for scanning documents for continuation of care into patient charts (Diagnostics, medical records, etc) to prepare for upcoming visits. They will also be responsible for answering phone calls from patients and referring physicians, although these will be minimal (5-10 calls per day).

The HIM team is a group of 3, so they need teammates who can work somewhat independently, as they are all very busy.

Ideally, someone coming into the role would have an HIM/Med Records background, however, they can train on the role if someone comes in with experience in Medical Front Desk, Insurance Verification, or admin support role in healthcare.

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications

  • 1-2 years in administrative support role in healthcare (Medical Front Desk, Insurance Verification, HIM, ROI, Medical Records, etc.)
  • EMR Experience
  • MS Office Suite proficiency

Nice to Have Skills

  • ONCO EMR Experience
  • Previous experience working in Release of Information, Medical Records or an HIM department
