Job description

Job Summary: The HIM Specialist is responsible for the organization, maintenance, and security of patient health records and medical information. They play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and availability of healthcare data, which is essential for patient care, billing, research, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

  • Oversee the collection, assembly, and maintenance of patient records, including electronic health records (EHR) and paper documents.
  • Ensure that medical records are complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
  • Process patient charts including assembling and scanning discharge charts within 48 hours after discharge with a productivity rate of 12 charts per day
  • Print HCS (facility EHR) reports and transcriptions daily
  • Follow-up with doctors or nurse practitioners for completion of medical records
  • Correctly route assembled patient charts to physicians for signature or dictatio
  • Pull and refile onsite charts, order and return charts to and from off-site storage at Iron Mountain
  • Manage post discharge loose filing, maintain patient log, chart checkout log, downloading transcript
  • Provide daily back-up support for release of information and other functions as neede
  • Other medical record support activities as needed and directed
Must Have Skills/Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Healthcare Administration (patient access, health information management, receptionist, admin, etc.)
  • Curiosity & interest in HIM
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft office and outlook)
  • Team Player / Collaborative

Schedule/Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00A - 4:30P
Pay: $20-$23/hour dependant on experience
Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and paid sick leave available while on contract
