Job description

A large healthcare consulting group is seeking a Clinical Consultant with experience in outpatient facility documentation, coding, and charging. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in collaborating with various hospital stakeholders to enhance processes, measurement tools, and resources for accurately capturing outpatient revenue while ensuring compliance with industry rules and regulations. This role involves significant client interaction and a commitment to client satisfaction.

The consultant will partner with clients throughout all phases of outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) and charging engagements, helping them achieve success. Strong teamwork and effective time management are essential, as the consultant will participate in multiple engagements.

Candidates must have a deep understanding of outpatient facility documentation, coding, and charging, with definable contributions that illustrate value. A competitive benefits package and bonus incentives are offered.

This position requires intermittent travel throughout the United States.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Leading clinical/coding focused tasks during assessment, implementation, and monitoring phases of projects
  • Reviewing retrospective claims, conducting charge capture and coding reviews/validations, and reviewing/validating EMR documentation
  • Reviewing medical records for complete and accurate documentation to reflect the severity of illness and resources used
  • Identifying opportunities for improved documentation in the medical record to more accurately reflect the acuity and complexity of the patient and the care provided
  • Participating in team-based peer chart and claims reviews
  • Writing, editing and finalizing chart review findings that are shared with our clients
  • Performing clinical documentation, coding and charging guideline training/education via virtual and/or in person presentations and department discussions
  • Working collaboratively with team members to achieve overall specificity, accuracy, and completeness of clinical documentation to support the highest integrity of the medical record

Requirements:

  • A minimum of one of the following certifications: RN, BSN, RHIT, RHIA, COC, CPC, CHRI, CDIP, CCDS
  • Hospital Facility mid-revenue cycle experience
  • Strong understanding of charge capture from a clinical perspective
  • Strong understanding of MediCare guidelines
  • Strong understanding of Medical Coding

Additional Skills:

  • Revenue Cycle Management Consulting experience
  • Nursing Background (RN or BSN)
  • Excellent communication skills

Pay: $50.50 - $72 Depending on experience

Length: 1040 Hours (Approx. 6 months) Contract to Hire*

*Possibility of permanent employment upon successful completion of contract period
