Formulation Technician (2nd Shift)

Job description

2nd Shift - 3PM-11:30PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize equipment and processes for the efficient operation of tanks, boilers, hot rooms, bead mills, meters, ventilation systems, and mixers/blenders.
  • Monitor and control mix times, pump speeds, temperatures, and sampling to ensure the production of high-quality, defect-free products.
  • Ensure all products and ingredients adhere to manufacturing guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory procedures, as outlined in the IH-4 section of the Occupational Health & Safety manual.
  • Maintain and enforce a clean, safe working environment to prevent product contamination and equipment damage, as well as to minimize the risk of injury.
  • Ensure accurate and legible reporting and documentation on all batch sheets and related records, including formulation activities, waste management, and returned raw materials.
  • Manage the use of raw materials and active ingredients while adhering to safety requirements for each material.
  • Maintain consistency in daily operations, including line assignments, data collection, PPS (Pasadena Performance System) compliance, process efficiency, QHSE oversight, and employee development, ensuring maximum production throughput and adherence to the production schedule.
  • Ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Pasadena Site.
  • Ensure that products are manufactured according to specifications, meeting both customer requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives at the site, such as 5S and DTM, and be directly involved in process standardization and improvements (e.g., SOPs).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma with 5-7 years of experience in product formulations.
  • Preferred specific HSE training (e.g., Haz-Mat, First Responder, NFPA, etc.).
  • Understanding of basic quality assurance/control principles, including familiarity with ISO standards and manufacturing procedures to ensure high-quality products.
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory environments, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Proven ability to execute complex tasks and develop solutions to problems.
