Job description

  • What You'll Do:

    • Review medical records and code physician services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems.
    • Accurately code diagnoses, co-morbidities, complications, procedures, supplies, materials, injections, and drugs.
    • Verify billable physician services by ensuring compliance with federal "Physician at Teaching Hospital" rules.
    • Identify and report documentation issues or trends to management for evaluation.
    • Collaborate with the specialty team to monitor and achieve financial goals.
    • Assist the Central Business Office to maximize reimbursement through proper follow-up on patient accounts.
    • Communicate effectively with physicians, coding team members, and management.
    • Utilize department resources to support accurate coding practices.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Achieve and maintain a 90% accuracy rate.
    • Attend departmental and other scheduled meetings.
    • Provide data for production reports and mentor junior coders.
    • Support management and maintain consistent, punctual attendance.
    • Comply with all policies and procedures.

    What We're Looking For:

    • Experience:
      • Three years of certified coding experience in professional or physician practice coding.
      • Proficiency in multi-specialty E/M coding.
    • Certifications:
      • CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA
    • Education:
      • High School Diploma

    Key Attributes:

    • Strong communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
