Job description

Overview:
As a CT Technologist, you will operate diagnostic equipment to produce computerized axial tomographic scan (CT) images of internal organs for use by professional personnel. Explains process to patients and interviews for medical history. Instructs and assists patients in assuming positions for proper scan, and administers contrast media (I.V., oral, rectal and P.O.) according to protocols.

Schedule/Shift:
3, 12 hour shifts - 7am-7:30pm with rotating Saturdays

Location: 3800 Reservoir Rd NW Washington District of Columbia 20007 United States

Primary Duties:
-Prepares patients for scan.
-Reviews patient records for orders, exam history, lab work, and allergies, and positions patients on the scan table.
-Establishes I.V. site for contrast infusion and administers oral, rectal and I.V. contrasts.
-Consults with Radiologist prior to administering I.V. contrast for bolus I.V. injections.
-Monitors patients during injection for evidence of contrast reaction.
-Enters patient and exam data into x-ray computer system and perform computed scan images.
-Prepare reports and maintain records of service rendered, using the radiology department computer system to verify billing and quality assurance.
-Completes incident reports and anesthesia records when necessary.
-Reports all technical problems to the supervisor or senior technologist.
-Assists Radiologist with interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages. Informs Radiologist of scan results when anomalies or abnormalities are visible.
-Schedules patient exams and revises daily schedules to accommodate emergency exams
-Cleans and maintains an aseptic working environment for each patient. Films CT scan images and archive exams onto tape or optical disk.
-Ensures adequate supplies are available and are responsible for replenishing supply levels.
-Assists in the training and orientation of new employees and students.
-Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, exam, and other necessary functions are correctly entered and maintained.

Qualifications:
-Associate degree or one to three years of formal training in Radiologic Technology.
-Completed competency-based training in CT.
-1-2 years job related experience.
-ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) registration.
-BLS (Basic Life Support).
