Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Credit Balance Specialist to join our remote team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial processes and maintaining strong relationships with patients and payers. If you have a solid background in credit balances and reimbursement processes, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify the accuracy of reimbursements to address credit balances and take necessary actions.
  • Process refunds to payers and patients after thorough investigation when justified.
  • Handle refund requests swiftly after appropriate validation.
  • Make required account adjustments or refunds in compliance with departmental, organizational, or governmental policies.
  • Identify trends in credit balances and provide insights to supervisors to help mitigate future occurrences.
  • Ensure timely review and resolution of assigned work queues.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in credit balance/cash posting.
  • Inpatient and outpatient experience.
  • Proficiency in UB-04 and CMS 1500 forms.
  • Experience with over-adjustments, recoupments, and offset payments.
  • Familiarity with all payors (excluding Auto, TPL, Work Comp, and Self-pay).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cerner.
  • Knowledge of payment posting.

Work Environment:

  • Business casual attire.

Training:

  • Comprehensive training with your direct manager, including heavy shadowing of the job and team members.
  • A structured training agenda will be provided.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and managers before engaging directly with patients.
