We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician with compounding expertise, ideally for chemotherapy medication, to join our team.

Job Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of pharmaceutical products, ensuring that our patients receive safe, effective, and high-quality medications. Your attention to detail and knowledge of compounding techniques, especially in the context of chemotherapy, will be essential in delivering exceptional patient care.

Pay: $19-23/hr:

Position is Contract to Hire through Medix #MedixHC

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compounding Medications: Prepare compounded medications, including creams, ointments, capsules, and solutions, in accordance with established protocols, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

  2. Prescription Processing: Accurately interpret and process medication orders, including dosages, routes, and special requirements, while verifying patient information and prescription validity.

  3. Medication Dispensing: Safely and accurately dispense prescription medications and provide appropriate labeling and patient instructions.

  4. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels of compounding ingredients, while minimizing wastage and expiration of products.

  5. Quality Assurance: Perform routine quality control checks on compounded medications to ensure accuracy, potency, and sterility.

  6. Patient Consultation: Assist patients with questions about their medications, potential side effects, and usage instructions.

  7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures.

  8. Collaboration: Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

  9. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere in the pharmacy.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program preferred
  3. A minimum of 1 year of compounding experience, ideally in the preparation of chemotherapy medications.
  4. Strong knowledge of compounding procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Effective communication and customer service skills.
  7. Knowledge of pharmacy software and prescription processing systems.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.

Work Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
