Job description

Responsibilities involve providing cash/financial posting and collections services for multiple facilities which may include report preparations, billing of institutional and professional claims, as well as patient contact on outstanding account balances. Performing basic computer system maintenance and patient account research.

  • Work Collaboratively with CBO team and facilities to improve in areas related to billing of revenue and collections and posting of cash and collections.
  • Work outstanding receivables utilizing A/R reports and collections module and document account activity.
  • Meet productivity goals and cash collection goals as set and communicated by A/R leadership
  • Verify validity of account balance by researching, reviewing and ensuring accuracy of payment and adjustment posting.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with collections module to ensure all functionality is utilized for the utmost efficient claims follow up
  • Responsible for timely and accurate insurance follow up and reimbursement of all payors including Medicare, Managed Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Medicaid and Commercial payors via phone and/or web portal.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills and have an understanding of payor payment methods to prepare contractual adjustments correctly based on payer contracts.
  • Process insurance and patient refunds as necessary
  • Identify collection trends, problems and issues that result in delayed claim processing and reimbursement and report to A/R leadership.
  • Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB's) and contracts to determine proper reimbursement received.
  • Research and resolve zero pays, underpayments and denials to determine reason and take appropriate action.
  • Identify liability and guarantor hierarchy and transfer balances timely and appropriately.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, ICD9 / ICD10 and the ability to work Inpatient, Physician and Outpatient claims

    Overview
  • Talent will receive work queue pushed by HMS and have productivity goals that increase beyond training. Training typically lasts 3-4 weeks, but will be based on the individual. For the first few weeks of training, there will be no metrics/productivity expectations. After training, they will work fully-remotely, as long as they are meeting productivity. Expectation is they will work 10 accounts per day for the first 2-3 weeks after training. Beyond that, the goal will be 30 accounts per day, once "up and running".

    3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications

    • GED/HS Diploma
    • 1-2 Years of previous collections experience
    • Familiarity working with all payers (Commercial, Medicare, Managed Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Medicaid)

    Nice to Have Skills

    • Knowledge of HMS/MedHost
    • Waystar experience
    • Experience both billing both inpatient/outpatient

    • Takes initiative and asks good questions
    • Team player who can work collaboratively with rest of team
    • Comfortable working from home and working somewhat independently


    Schedule and Shift

    - Monday-Friday, 7am - 3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm w, 30 min lunch (although they can take an hour if needed)

    - Fully-remote after training period - training will be 2-4 weeks

    Opportunities for up to 4 hours/wk overtime, once meeting productivity standards
