Job description

Collections Specialist

Location: Near Nashville, TN (Onsite training for 3-4 weeks, then fully remote)

Pay: $20-$22/hr

Job Description: We are seeking a Collections Specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing cash/financial posting and collections services for multiple facilities.
  • Collaborating with the CBO team and facilities to improve billing, revenue, collections, and cash posting.
  • Working on outstanding receivables using A/R reports and collections module, documenting account activity.
  • Meeting productivity and cash collection goals as set by A/R leadership.
  • Verifying account balances, ensuring accuracy of payment and adjustment postings.
  • Handling insurance follow-up and reimbursement for all payors (Medicare, Managed Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, and Commercial) via phone/web portal.
  • Processing insurance and patient refunds as necessary.
  • Reviewing and interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and contracts for proper reimbursement.
  • Researching and resolving zero pays, underpayments, and denials, taking appropriate action.
  • Understanding medical terminology, ICD9/ICD10, and working with Inpatient, Physician, and Outpatient claims.

Requirements:

  • GED/HS Diploma
  • 1-2 years of previous collections experience
  • Familiarity with all payers (Commercial, Medicare, Managed Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Medicaid)

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of HMS/MedHost
  • Waystar experience
  • Experience billing both inpatient and outpatient claims

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 7am - 3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch (1-hour lunch optional)
  • Fully remote after the training period
