Job description

Job Summary
The Collections Manager will oversee and evaluate the work of remote medical collection teams, ensuring accurate billing, prompt payment, and compliance with payor requirements. Reporting to the Director of Revenue Cycle, this role includes setting and enforcing performance standards, handling escalations, and fostering team development. The Collections Manager will actively work with various payors to resolve issues and maximize cash collections while ensuring compliance with internal policies and guidelines

Key Responsibilities

Team Supervision and Evaluation:

  • Direct, supervise, and assess the activities of remote medical collection teams.
  • Conduct face-to-face performance reviews monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training.

Performance Management:

  • Hold employees accountable for defined goals and objectives.
  • Conduct performance redirection and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with management to develop productivity and performance metrics.

Claims Processing and Payor Management:

  • Monitor assigned payors to ensure accurate billing and timely payment.
  • Respond to or initiate inquiries related to open AR (Accounts Receivable), including billed and unbilled claims.
  • Maintain frequent communication with payors and care centers to facilitate issue resolution.

Process Improvement and Compliance:

  • Stay informed on payor billing requirements and initiate process changes to ensure compliance.
  • Gather and evaluate billing operations results, adjusting performance expectations as needed.
  • Design, implement, and communicate new approaches to reporting, policies, and SOPs.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work collaboratively with Revenue Recovery team members to maximize collections.
  • Share performance data and trends with the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees in partnership with Human Resources.

Policy Enforcement:

  • Uphold HR policies, including attendance, dress code, and telecommuting standards.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's employee manual and telecommuting guidelines.

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • Experience:5+ years in supervising and managing staff and 7+ years in Healthcare, Hospital, and Physician Collections with a focus on Out-of-Network collections
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of all payers and reimbursement requirements
