JOB TITLE: Clinical Research Medical Biller
DEPARTMENT: Central Business Office
LOCATION: Dallas
JOB CATEGORY: Full-Time,

REPORTS TO: Director Business office (CBO)

Job Description:


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two years' experience working in physician practice billing, coding, and charge entry
  • Strong preference (although not required) will be given to certified coders
  • Ability to work in a physician practice billing office
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of current CPT & ICD-10 coding terminology, billing rules and general electronic billing requirements for physician office, inpatient and outpatient charges

ROLE AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Review physician Op Notes, hospital visits, and procedures for coding accuracy
  • Enter charges accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment
  • Send in claims to insurance companies for reimbursement
  • Process and follow up on payer denials, consulting with the patient and/or his or her family as needed
  • Research and resolve client billing problems or issues
  • Document payment records and issues as they occur
  • Manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies
  • Process refunds for insurance companies and patients
  • Answer patient's questions regarding billing (rotational within department)
