Job description

Hiring Clincal Assitants in Pittsburgh!

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated clinical staff to join our growing ophthalmology practice. We are currently looking for candidates with clinical experience, specifically those with a strong interest in ophthalmology. Training is provided for the right candidates, but candidates must demonstrate basic clinical skills and a passion for learning.

Schedule:

M-F available between the hours of 7:45am - 6:00pm

No weekends!

Job Requirements:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding interpersonal skills with a neat and professional appearance.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Typing and EHR Experience: Proficient typing skills and prior experience with electronic health records (EHR), such as EPIC, Nextgen, or similar systems.

  • Experience: Previous medical office clinical experience is preferred; prior ophthalmology experience is a plus but not required.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist with physician injections and procedures, including pre-preparing injectables.
  • Provide basic patient care such as taking vitals and preparing patient charts.

  • Manage high patient volume efficiently, seeing 50+ patients a day.

  • Handle basic tasks like collecting consent forms and managing room setup/cleaning.

  • Patient Evaluation: Accurately document the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, past surgeries, medications, and ocular findings following compliance guidelines.

  • Pre-Exam Testing: Perform visual acuity assessments, tonometry, pupillary dilation, and other patient services as requested by the physician.

  • Procedure Setup: Prepare for procedures, including intravitreal injections, by pulling drugs, documenting lot numbers, expiration dates, and other pertinent drug information in the EHR.

  • Surgical Instrument Maintenance: Clean and prepare surgical instruments for sterile processing.

  • Inventory Management: Conduct inventory checks on instrument supplies and order clinical supplies as directed.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance of clinical exam equipment.

  • Room Setup/Closing: Open and close exam rooms and injection rooms.

  • Photography Assistance: Assist with patient photography if trained to do so.
