Job Title: Certified Medical Technologist

Pay Range - $30-$40/hr

Location: Helena, MT

Job Type: Long Term Opportunity

Shift: Day and Night shifts available with rotating weekends and holidays

General Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Technologist to join our team. The Certified Medical Technologist is responsible for performing complex laboratory testing in various clinical laboratory sections, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and transfusion medicine. The role involves analyzing biological specimens, conducting diagnostic tests, and ensuring accuracy and quality in laboratory procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients, particularly veterans. This position requires adherence to safety and regulatory standards and a commitment to providing high-quality care to veterans.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including blood, urine, and tissue samples, following standardized protocols.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Interpret test results, ensuring accuracy, and report findings to healthcare providers in a timely manner.
  • Conduct quality control procedures, troubleshoot issues, and resolve discrepancies in testing.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records and reports.
  • Adhere to VA, federal, and state regulations, including CLIA, OSHA, CAP, and JCAHO standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay updated on advancements in medical technology.
  • Support the mentorship and training of laboratory technicians and new staff.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certifying body.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in a VA or hospital environment.
  • Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and performing tests in areas such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and immunology.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret and verify the accuracy of test results.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with healthcare teams and veterans.
