Job Posting: Certified Medical Assistant (Urgent Care & Primary Care)

Location: Columbia, MD

Schedule: Full-Time


Overview of Responsibilities:
As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in our busy Urgent Care/Primary Care office, you will play a crucial role in assisting physicians and nursing staff with patient care, chart management, and ensuring smooth patient flow. You will perform delegated medical tasks, such as blood draws, injections, triaging patients, and rooming them for appointments. This position will also include clerical duties as needed. As you become proficient in using EPIC, you may be asked to assist at our other specialty buildings to support rotating specialists.

You will be part of a collaborative environment with three experienced Medical Assistants in Urgent Care who will help train and support you as you settle into your role.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and nurses with patient care in Urgent Care/Primary Care and Specialty Clinics.
  • Perform blood draws, injections, and vitals checks.
  • Manage patient flow and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Support patient triage and rooming as necessary.
  • Utilize electronic medical record systems (EPIC) according to established procedures.
  • Perform additional clerical and clinical duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
  • Two to three years of medical assisting and office experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in venipuncture.
  • CPR certification required.

Schedule & Hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday Late Shift: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM (replaces standard hours)
  • 3rd Saturday of Each Month: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM
  • One Weekend Shift: Each month (Saturday or Sunday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, TBD for temporary positions)

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in taking vital signs and managing medical records.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
  • Hands-on experience in medical assistance tasks.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records.
  • Proficiency in injections and pediatric care.
