Job Description: Medical Assistant for Urgent Care/Primary Care

Position: Medical Assistant
Location: Columbia, MD
Schedule:

  • Mon-Thurs: 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
  • Fri: 11:30 am - 8:00 pm / Close
  • 4th Sunday of the Month: 11:30 am - 8:00 pm

Overview of Responsibilities: As a Medical Assistant in our busy Urgent Care and Primary Care office, you will play a critical role in patient care and clinic operations. You will start in our Urgent Care department, gaining valuable training and experience before assisting in our specialty buildings.

Typical Day:

  • Patient Interaction: Perform triage, rooming, and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Medical Procedures: Conduct blood draws, injections, and other clinical tasks as needed.
  • Patient Flow Management: Ensure efficient patient flow and manage chart documentation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and nursing staff to provide comprehensive care.
  • Administrative Duties: Handle clerical tasks and utilize the EPIC electronic health record system for charting and data management.
  • Training and Development: Benefit from training provided by three tenured Medical Assistants in Urgent Care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care.
  • Perform medical tasks such as blood draws and injections.
  • Manage patient charts and flow.
  • Execute clerical duties as needed.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems as per department protocols.
  • Support specialty buildings after initial training in Urgent Care.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in medical assisting and a medical office setting.
  • Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Proven skill in venipuncture.
  • CPR certification.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Vital signs monitoring.
  • Medical records management.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records.
  • Proficiency in administering injections.
  • Experience in pediatrics.
