Job description

Certified Medical Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional patient care. In this role, you will support both clinical and administrative operations, assisting patients from intake to exit, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure smooth care delivery.

Hours: M-F 8-5 One late day 10-7

Pay: 19-21/hr

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Facilitate the patient's journey throughout their visit, ensuring a positive and smooth experience.
  • Engage with patients, family members, providers, and nursing staff regularly.
  • Coordinate with referral sources and contracted services to enhance patient care.

Medical Tasks:

  • Perform pre-visit planning, including follow-ups on referrals, labs, and external health records.
  • Accurately document patient reasons for visits and health status changes.
  • Collect vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight) and record data.
  • Assist in implementing care plans by administering treatments, injections, and helping with procedures, including GYN exams.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is thorough and compliant.
  • Perform point-of-care tests and other diagnostic assessments as needed.
  • Communicate health information clearly, reinforcing key points to ensure patient understanding.
  • Counsel patients on test results, confidentiality, risk assessments, and preventive health guidelines.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as a key member of the healthcare team, working closely with clinicians, nurses, and other team members.
  • Maintain open communication, notifying the team when taking breaks or ending shifts.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated empathy and exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced setting while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Competent in using electronic medical records and handling workplace equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Required: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of experience in a similar healthcare setting.
  • Desired: Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
