Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant - CMA

Pay Range - $19-$21 (depending on experience)

Location: North Charleston, SC

Contract: Long Term Opportunity

Shift: Monday-Friday - 8am-4pm

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistants to join our Healthcare Team. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide the highest level of Healthcare service to our Military Veterans and Families. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who have served our country, while working within a supportive and collaborative healthcare environment.

General Overview:

Medical Assistants will provide non-clinical and clinical support to dedicated clinic operations including patient flow, responding to requests from clinical staff and providing clinically competent medical care services within their scope of practice.

The Medical Assistant role is patient facing and can require working in a non-traditional clinical setting. It s customer facing with high expectations for operational excellence, particularly for maintaining strict adherence to compliance and control practices. The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in a health care setting under the supervision of a licensed examiner. Duties primarily consist of ancillary completion, as well as telephone and clerical support.

Essential Functions:

  • Welcome veterans with a courteous and professional demeanor, verify identification, and facilitate the check-in process for appointments.
  • Review and manage appointment schedules to ensure veterans are seen on their designated dates.
  • Perform medical assistant duties for both front and back office operations.
  • Conduct clinical tasks including taking vitals, performing blood draws, administering pulmonary function tests (PFT), and related exams.
  • Prepare and distribute copies of veterans' documents for healthcare providers.
  • Assist veterans by providing accurate information regarding their exams or appointments when requested.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, manage messages, and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Collaborate with healthcare practitioners to communicate weekly schedules, including daily updates on cancellations and adjustments.
  • Perform additional front and back office responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care while ensuring compliance with all established policies and procedures.




Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant Program
  • Certified Medical Assistant in CO state
  • Phlebotomy certification from accredited training course, when mandated by state requirements
  • Must have blood draw / phlebotomy experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare software
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and tasks
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, in addition to patience and a high level of customer service to all attendees and fellow staff.
  • Dedicated to building rapport with team members, patients, and the management team by demonstrating a strong customer service orientation and a continuous positive image of Medix.
  • This job may require sitting for long periods, bending, twisting and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs.
