Job description

Hiring OBGYN Certified Medical Assistant in Sewell, NJ

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Medical Assistant to join our team in the Department of Family Medicine. This position involves performing a variety of medical, clerical, and reception duties to support both the front and back office. The successful candidate will assist physicians in patient care, including examination, treatment, and minor procedures, while also handling administrative responsibilities to ensure smooth operations within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical assistance to physicians during patient examinations and treatments
  • Check patients in through the EPIC system, verifying demographics, insurance information, and making necessary updates
  • Schedule patient appointments for office visits through EPIC and ensure accurate insurance verification and pre-certification for services
  • Prepare patients for visits, including taking medical histories, vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse), and chief complaints
  • Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures, including drawing up medications for injections
  • Handle patient phone calls and messages, relaying to physicians via the EMR system
  • Process new patient charts in the EMR system and prepare patient charts for upcoming visits
  • Maintain medical waste logs and stay up-to-date with current regulations
  • Stock and maintain office supplies, including medical samples, injectables, vaccines, and medical equipment
  • Ensure exam rooms are tidy, stocked, and ready for patient visits
  • Complete HMO referrals and scan all patient-related documents into the EMR system
  • Perform light typing, handle incoming and outgoing mail, and assist with front office duties
  • Maintain an orderly and professional office environment
  • Open and close the office, communicating effectively with various departmental staff
  • Follow Rowan's compliance standards as outlined in the Corporate Compliance, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) National Certification
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Reliable, professional, and a strong team player
  • Ability to maintain a high level of patient confidentiality and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epic EMR system
  • OB/GYN experience

Schedule:

  • Flexible schedule options: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
  • Options for 5 shifts of 8 hours or 4 shifts of 10 hours per week.
  • Open to scheduling flexibility based on the candidate's needs.
